The Culture

The best thing about working here is:

Working with a diverse group of outdoorists, community groups, schools, and local leaders to collect and share intriguing, inspiring, and impactful adventure stories that facilitate progressive thought, empathy, and environmental stewardship.

When we’re not working, we’re:

Thru-hiking, paddling, trail running, reading, and experiential learning.

What we’re reading:

So You Want To Talk About Race, Ijeoma Oluo, You’ll Find Me Here, Ty Gagne, The Power of Meaning, Emily Esfahani Smith, Becoming, Michelle Obama, Educated, Tara Westover, Born a Crime, Trevor Noah, Thirst, Heather “Anish” Anderson

What we’re listening to:

So many adventure stories recorded at our events while we’re editing the Boldly Went Podcast!

If they made a movie about our workplace, it would be called:

The Dirtbag’s Guide to Life

Inclusion in the outdoors matters because:

Everyone has a unique story about the outdoors that is indisputably true. When we step outside of a media model which prioritizes the stories of the most elite, high achieving, and privileged groups, we gain a much more robust understanding of who and what the outdoors is for.

Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:

Boldly Went will be known for sharing adventure stories that reflect the full scope of human experience in the outdoors, and providing representation for a truly diverse range of individuals.
