b) A campaign was launched using Mile for Mile, a film we directed and produced with Patagonia, Inc. and Tompkins Conservation, to raise money for trails in Patagonia Park, Chile. We exceeded our goal and raised over $90,000 which resulted in more than 50 miles of new trails;
c) We worked with GoPro on a project to help Nepal after their earthquake in 2015 and the project raised over $100,000 for Nepal’s efforts;
d) Q Media has been involved in the production of numerous award-winning short and feature-length films.
The Culture
The best thing about working here is:
We are a small, mother and son company, and share a family bond. We have similar traits and enjoy working together. We consider it to be one of the biggest gifts in the world to be able to work daily with family that we love and trust.
When we’re not working, we’re:
Spending quality time with family and friends, reading, being curios about the world in general and Q is often running and climbing, while Sheila likes playing with her cats.
What we’re reading:
Go Tell It On The Mountain by James Baldwin and The Serpent and the Rainbow by Wade Davis.
What we’re listening to:
Podcasts: Without Fail and Safety Third; Music: Ego by Trishes, A Thousand Kinds of Gold by Publish the Quest, and Sturgill Simpson.
If they made a movie about our workplace, it would be called:
“Freedom to Create” where we make passionate films and photographs about subjects and issues, but we do it on a shoe string budget and ALWAYS make it work no matter the timeline or monetary restrictions. People and places will also be more important than money!
Inclusion in the outdoors matters because:
Nature Heals, we all know that, yet it needs to be said again and again, and it needs to be shown in films, heard during public talks, and broadcasted wide and far. We see social and economic change as a way for large conservation in the future. If we can uplift, educate, and create collective and diverse groups who understand the healing power of nature, we can continue to change the world for the better.
Five years down the line, it’s our hope that:
Five years down the line, we hope that our business model continues to be sustainable, equitable, conscientious, and reputable with a continued legacy of timely and important storytelling, while doing our best to be a part of the force of change and global awareness about a need to protect our planet.
